We are holistic breeders of purebred, AKC registered, HAVANESE PUPPIES in Northwest Houston, Texas.
We give your puppy the absolute best start possible! We think of them as a whole being. Our methods follow nature as closely as possible. For starters, WE START WITH HEALTHIER DOGS! We partner with Cornell University, whose powerful, cutting edge genetic scientists DNA health-test our parents. Due to this level of diligence, we have been able to successfully weed out diseases common to Havanese, and her sister breeds, such as IVDD and liver disease, which plague up to 75% of all dogs in this class. OUR DOGS ARE COMPLETELY CLEAN OF GENETIC DISEASE MARKERS!
Our dogs are our pets, and they live with us in our home. Your puppy is raised in our home, not in a shed or a kennel. Additionally, we think it’s wholly inappropriate to pull mama from her babies to “wean,” so they stay together, and receive lots of extra nutrition, cuddles, and instruction from her! Sometimes , they nurse right up until they go home with you, which is valuable for their lifetime immunity!!! The longer they can nurse, the better! Another benefit to staying with mama is that they copy her with POTTY TRAINING. She helps them learn, lovingly nudging them, and then snuggles with them when they do well!
In addition to mama’s care, we pay lots of close attention to our babies. Good hygiene, lots of handling and cuddling by us, including our grandchildren, ensures they will be healthy, not easily stressed, and comfortable with all ages.
We do not overload your baby with medications and too many vaccines. We do only non-recombinant Parvo/Diptheria, and herbal wormings. We wean your pup onto species appropriate, grain-free, raw food, so they get the best start possible!
Don't be fooled! Many breeders say they do health testing, but they mean OFA, which is valuable, but is done by exam. OFA certification covers conformation, hearing, and vision, but does not address longterm genetic diseases...including IVDD and liver disease, which are VERY common in Havanese and others in it's class, some research states up to 75%! CURRENTLY, WE ARE THE ONLY BREEDER IN OR SURROUNDING THE HOUSTON AREA THAT DOES FULL GENETIC HEALTH TESTING, as a conscious step towards eliminating these genetic illnesses in Havanese, and improving the breed! We take the health of our pups seriously! We use Embark Vet, through Cornell University, Individual tests through UC Davis, and other panels through Orivet.

HAVANESE HISTORY:
Havanese are hypo-allergenic, they don't shed, and they are dander-free. The babies live up to their nick name of "Silk Poodles," and are notably soft. Their oldest ancestor is the Barbet, or Water Spaniel, from which the name "Barbichon" came. Also descended from the Barbichon are the Bichon Frise, Poodle, Maltese, Shitzhu, and Coton de Tulear. Legend is that they were originally brought to Havana by the Spaniards. They were nicknamed Havana's "SILK POODLES." During Castro's revolution in Cuba, many of those owning these beautiful silk poodles took their babies with them when they fled. As a result, many were lost, and they almost became extinct. The breed has gained popularity in recent years, and since 2009, they have been recognized by the AKC. The breed has the best of these three breeds: intelligence of the Poodle, the playfulness of the Shitzhu, and the sweetness of the Maltese. We have many stunning colors, and we breed a particularly vibrant line of chocolate Havanese and red Havanese! |

Our babies have a wonderful demeanor. They are snuggly, calm, and playful. They don't require lots of activity, but it's healthier to give them time to run and play. They prefer to snuggle on your lap. They are attentive, intelligent, and intuitive to their family's needs, and are easy to train.
If you think you may want one of our puppies, be prepared to tell me why you will be a good owner, because I am very particular where I place them. I want to make sure they will go to a family that loves them and that the pup will not experience trauma or displacement. This is extremely important to me.
We welcome your inquiries, and can do so through the "Contact" page.
